I have a 95 GTI with racing tires...it's like driving a sled.
Anybody know how I-70 is through Utah? We might drive through NM to avoid the Rockies.
Thanks!!!

I-70 is lovely. I think you'll have a more difficult time driving through Colorado...much higher elevation there. Probably more snow.
You don't want to drive through New Mexico, it's very dirty.

Where are you coming from/going?
I live in Denver and drive to SLC quite frequently via I-70.
If you don't have a snow ready vehicle, I would avoid the drive all together this time of year. Rent a car or something. Lol

Yeah, agreed with Gaianin.
I-70 is a pretty ugly road in the winter, expecially the Green River - Salina Stretch, its like 130 miles with NO SERVICES at all .
If the road is clear and the weather is good, then it shouldnt be a problem, but if it is snowing i would suggest a different route, as when it snows there, it SNOWS...
( When i drove I-70 in December, i was going 10-15 mph the WHOLE time because it was dumping snowflakes the size of small children, i wouldnt drive that road in the snow again in a TANK )

Well...
We took I-70. (I know the route well between Cali and Colorado, as I've driven it about 15 round trips...one of which was in a 64 Chevelle that I performed an AMAZING 360 on I-70 during a blizzard near Vail.) The roads around Eisenhower Tunnel were treacherous!!! But it was free and clear from Glenwood Springs on!
Although, my AC went out a couple months ago, and we drove through death valley....it was somewhat miserable after 12th hour of driving, but it sure was beautiful.
*In my youth...or less seasoned years...I received 15 speeding tickets, 3 of which were generously given to me by the Sevier County in Utah! Big props to Richfield, UT!!!

Having lived in richfield for roughly 2 years, i feel your pain, you think those tickets are bad, you should try being a local, i drove the salina-green river stretch of i-70 more times then i can count, i was pulled over more times in any single month living there, then i had been previously pulled over anywhere,
and Sevier county is the only place i know that will pull you over, search your car illegally and put everything you had in your car on the street, then write you a ticket for littering.
( And threaten to jail you when you get pissed that they wont help you clean up the mess they just made of your shit )
Good ole sevier county making everyone avoid central utah....
